The agency reportedly planned to establish a liaison team to work with the \u201cefficiency\u201d team, whose intentions were not immediately clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur intent will be to partner with the DOGE representatives and cooperate with their request following normal processes for ethics requirements, IT security or system training, and establishing their need to know before granting access to restricted systems and data,\u201d said an email to SEC staff, according to Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>After taking office as US President in January, Donald Trump <a data-ct-non-breakable=\"null\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/02\/implementing-the-presidents-department-of-government-efficiency-cost-efficiency-initiative\/\" rel=\"null\" target=\"null\" title=\"null\">signed<\/a> an executive order allowing DOGE to implement cost-cutting measures, claiming efforts \u201cto save taxpayers money.\u201d However, many of Musk\u2019s efforts \u2014 including attempting to fire staff at the US Agency for International Development, or USAID, and shutting down the watchdog Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) \u2014 face lawsuits in federal court from parties alleging DOGE\u2019s actions were illegal or unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p class=\"post-content__disclaimer\">This is a developing story, and further information will be added as it becomes available.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department of Government Efficiency team \u2014 or DOGE, which is not an official US government department \u2014 led by Tesla CEO Elon Musk is reportedly moving into the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
